Avengers Assemble [What Marvel Legendary and Avengers can teach us]

Playing Marvel Legendary

Playing Marvel Legendary at DeckBox in Varberg

Tonight I have been playing Marvel Legendary at My Local Friendly Professional Game Store. I Bought it when I was at PAX East in Boston last month and finally got a chance to sit down and play it. It’s semi cooperation deck-building card game. You start out with a couple S.H.I.E.L.D agents and the recruit the actions of a chosen 5 of all the Marvel Heroes included. All to beat down a Master Villain and all his Sub Villains and Henchmen. This feel like a really good Deck-building game. And we did make a great time bringing down The Red Skull just moments before his master plan was complete. All the 5 key ingredients below was at place to make this teamwork come through.

Joss Whedon get’s his recognition [The Fans is right]

If you saw the Oscars fiasco you know that The Avengers got no love there. Also the host and the sexism was the worst I have seen. So it’s with great joy that I sat down tonight to watch MTV Movie Awards, that took place this weekend. The host and the jokes are a little lame and it doesn’t hold up to earlier years great standards av MTV Movie awards. But here the fans get their say in who we should really celebrate. Finally The Avenger’s Cast and Crew get the recognition it deserves.

Tom ‘Loke’ Hiddleston wins for best villain which he deserve for the Evil Mastermind he plays so well. The Avengers wins the price for best Movie and Joss Whedon with the cast gets up on stage tho thank all the fans who have seen it more than once. Me, myself has seen it 4 times so far 🙂

Now we can’t wait for The Avengers 2 that comes out in 2015.  In the mean time we get Iron-man 2 and Thor 2 this year.

What makes Marvel and The Avengers so great is the hope it inspires to do great teamwork to overcome any obstacle. Something that we humans are going to need so direly in the near future.

The Secret of Super Teams [Why does Superhero teams beat impossible odds?]

“Every organisation lives or dies by the quality of its teamwork. In a complex, fast-moving, increasingly connected world, the need to work effectively as a team is more urgent than ever. And only great teams can face a crisis and emerge stronger.”

What makes The Avengers and other Marvel Superhero teams, so effective in taking on impossible tasks and beat overwhelming odds against the greatest of Villains? Listen to the discussion with Khoi Tu at The RSA as they talk about what it takes to Make a Super Team. Or read this excellent blog.

Here are 5 key ingredients to make a Super Team:

  • Excellence is a habit. Great teamwork come from lots of practice.
  • Great individuals. You can’t have a great team without great individuals. The challenge is that many individuals are also the most unreasonable. Here a Team Leader or Manager will have a key part in handling communication.
  • Trust and cohesion. Teams need to figure out how to master conflict and cohabit. To harness the power of the great individuals without it running amok.
  • A common purpose. A navigable North Star that connects individual motivation to collective action. The Team will have to be the best way for each member, as an individual, to achieve his personal ambitions.
  • Diversity of the team. All Team members will have an intellectual and ideological diversity to create the right kind of creative spark.

Great teams don’t happen by accident. The happen by design and by deliberate practice — Khoi Tu
